Memento Mori

Joseph the Carpenter (1642) by Georges de La Tour
Should the hand of fear seize thy mortal heart
In muse of soul from body rent apart,
Hold tender the flame of faith to thy core
Against the cruel winds in which devils soar.
And if still that blessed flame doth flicker
Call nigh the able hand of the carpenter
Who daily chose to craft with loving care
The very substance of his mortal snare.
