Take It From Me

Voice of the Desert (1914) by William Robinson Leigh
I ain’t got a woman
Gonna keep it that way.
Gotta whole lotta burnin
Gotta flush it all away.
I saw me a tavern
A couple miles back.
I might score me a turn
At a tall yella snack
To forget womenfolk
And their pull on my belt.
To get gone of this yoke
Of the feelings I’ve felt.
Do I hear a coyote
Yippin at the full moon?
Lil fella in the white coat,
You oughta find you a coon.
Cus I’ve been howling too
And it’s done me no perks,
But a belly full of brew
Is the only thing that works
To forget womenfolk
And their pull on my belt.
To get gone of this yoke
Of the feelings I’ve felt.
