Divine Hiddenness
Fallen Angel (1847) by Alexandre Cabanel
Hidden is God
In flooded heavens
And clouded oceans.
Hidden is God
Past garments of skin
Bloodied with sin.
Hidden is God
From jot to tittle
And all ‘cross the middle.
Hidden is God
From gluttonous drunks
In wine and bread chunks.
Hidden is God
When gold acacia walls
Fade to plastered halls.
Hidden is God
And where harder to pan
Than the heart of man?
Hidden is God
For we have hidden Him
By the Light we dim.
Hidden is God
In our very shadow;
Let us then ignite our halo
